David Biggs

David graduated in 1993 with a B.Sc. Psychology with Computing (University of Ulster) and then with an M.Sc. in Occupational Psychology (University of Nottingham). David worked as an occupational psychologist in management development and recruitment in 1994 and then in performance management in 1995. His experiences in performance management led David to start a part-time Ph.D. in 1996 examining temporary workers. David then worked for a specialist training provider where he led a small team of trainers for two years and then moved to an International Management Consultancy. During this period (1998-2002), David led several consultancy and research projects and developed an appetite for research both in the UK and abroad. David then worked for a niche Assessment Centre consultancy providing management development and assessment services. David joined Gloucestershire in September 2003 and lectures at undergraduate and postgraduate level. He developed with Dai Jones, the M.Sc. in Business Psychology and the M.Sc. in Occupational Psychology. David has also had guest lectures in a number of institutions which include: University of Oxford (Christ Church College), University of Ulster (Coleraine), University of Hull, University of Swansea, University of Northampton, University of Warwick and Goldsmiths College, University of London.

David’s research interests are in non-traditional forms of work (temporary employment, management consulting, etc) and the impact of technology at work (especially in terms of human machine interaction, ICT in selection and expert systems).
