Dr. Gerald L. Kovacich graduated from the University of Maryland with a bachelor's degree in Asian history and politics; the University of Northern Colorado with a master's degree in social science (emphasis in public administration); Golden Gate University with a master's degree in telecommunications management; the DOD Language Institute (Chinese Mandarin); and August Vollmer University with a doctorate degree in criminology. He is also a retired Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), and a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
Dr. Kovacich has over 40 years of security, criminal and civil investigations, anti-fraud, information warfare, and information systems security experience in both the US government as an Air Force Office of Special Investigations special agent and in business in executive management security-related positions. He has worked for numerous technology-based, international corporations as a security, information warfare technologist, investigations, and anti-fraud program manager and consultant. He has developed and managed several information systems security, investigations and anti-fraud organizations, to include providing service and support for information warfare projects.
Dr. Kovacich has taught both graduate and undergraduate courses in criminal justice, technology crimes investigations and security for Los Angeles City College, DeAnza College, Golden Gate University, and August Vollmer University. He has also lectured and presented workshops on these topics for national and international conferences as well as written numerous published articles on these subjects, both nationally and internationally.
Dr. Kovacich was the President, Information Security Management Associates, a Mission Viejo, California-based information systems protection and high-tech crime investigations consulting firm; and Associate, responsible for computer and telecommunications protection, anti-fraud programs, business security, and investigations training and consulting for PT Citamulia Prajakonsulindo, an Indonesian banking and business consulting firm; Associate, Safetynet Services Consultant, SDN BHD, a Malaysian security and investigative consulting firm. He is also a member of Association of Certified Fraud Examiners' International Committee and ACFE Liaison Officer for Southeast Asian Nations.
Dr. Kovacich is currently living on an island in Washington state where he continues to write, lecture and conduct research relative to information systems security, information warfare defensive and offensive operations, high-technology crime and techno-terrorism.
