Ikujiro Nonaka

Professor Nonaka joined JAIST as a professor at the Center for Research and Investigation of Advanced Science and Technology in April 1995. He then became the dean of the School of Knowledge Science in April 1997. He received B.A.(Political Science) in 1958 from Waseda University, and Ph.D. (Business Administration) from University of California, Berkley. Professor at Faculty of Management, Nanzan University (1977-1979), Professor at Faculty of Social Science, National Defense Academy (1979-1982), Professor at the Institute of Business Research, Hitotsubashi University (1982-1995), Director at the Institute of Business Research, Hitotsubashi University (1995-1997). Professor at the Center for Research and Investigation of Advanced Science and Technology (Adjunct, 1995-1996).

He has authored and coauthored several books, including The Knowledge Creating Company with Hirotaka Takeuchi. He has also written articles in academic and managerial journals both in Japan and overseas. He edits several international journals and designs international seminars for managers.
