Joel Scambray is currently senior director of MSN Security for Microsoft Corporation. Prior to that, Joel helped launch Foundstone Inc., and has held positions at Ernst & Young, InfoWorld, and as director of IT for a major commercial real estate firm. Joel's academic background includes advanced degrees from the University of California at Davis and Los Angeles (UCLA), and he is a CISSP. In addition to co-creating the original Hacking Exposed in 1999, and co-authoring all of the subsequent editions, Joel is lead author of Hacking Exposed Windows 2000 and Hacking Exposed Web Applications. Joel's past publications have included his co-founding role as InfoWorld's Security Watch columnist, InfoWorld Test Center analyst and contributing editor, and inaugural author of Microsoft's TechNet Ask Us About… Security forum. Joel has presented information system security seminars to numerous groups worldwide, including CERT, The Computer Security Institute (CSI), ISSA, ISACA, SANS, private corporations, and government agencies, including the FBI and the RCMP.
