Computer Professional's Quick Reference is an instant-access problem solver that takes the frustration out of working on new or unfamiliar systems, and lets you find and use the command, statement, or function you're looking for in seconds — without wading through ponderous manuals. Plus it enables you to translate commands of one system into another with ease. It is also full of reference data invaluable for computer professionals and difficult to find elsewhere in one place.

UNIX, VAX/VMS, VM/CMS, MVS-TSO, MS-DOS, Macintosh. For each the information is right at your fingertips, illustrated by concrete examples and covering such basic operations as listing directories; copying, renaming, deleting, and editing files; and compiling and running programs. Data communications professionals and other users will find up-to-the-minute guidance on interfaces, connections and modems, worldwide networks such as BITNET and the Internet, and file transfer with Kermit and FTP. There is also information on standards organizations and procedures, dozens of easy-to-use tables including conversion tables, ISO alphabets, floating-point formats, typography, and much more

In short, if you need simple answers to complex questions — and you need them fast — this is the one book you'll want on your reference shelf.
