Headline was founded in 1986 and five years later won the prestigious Publisher of the Year Award. The following year, Headline acquired Hodder & Stoughton to form Hodder Headline Plc. Now, as a separate division within the Hachette Livre group, Headline is one of the most successful, dynamic and fastest-growing consumer book publishers in Britain.

Headline has an outstanding track record in publishing both fiction and non-fiction. On their fiction list, giant commercial brand names including Martina Cole and James Patterson rub shoulders with the Orange Prize winning Andrea Levy and recent megasellers Jed Rubenfeld and Victoria Hislop. Their non-fiction publishing programme is equally eclectic, and ranges from the autobiographies of Sir Bobby Charlton, Sir Jackie Stewart and Paul Gascoigne to TV tie-ins of Friends and The X Factor, from the memoirs of Hillary Clinton and Kate Adie to cookery books from bestsellers Mary Berry and Gennaro Contaldo .
